THE MASSACHUSETTS INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL
Celebrating Regional and International Independent Cinema

CAMBRIDGE -- The Massachusetts Independent Film Festival (MassIFF) opens Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 at the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge, and continues through Sunday, Aug 28. Each summer, MassIFF brings the best independent cinema and movie talent to the Boston area. Filmmakers, actors, producers and other industry professionals from New England and around the world gather for this exciting annual film experience.

MassIFF has selected a number of provocative and engaging films this year, including the U.S. Premiere of Blood on Méliès’ Moon, Italian shock maestro Luigi Cozzi’s return to film after a nearly three decade hiatus, and featuring appearances by Dario Argento and Lamberto Bava. Fresh from Slamdance is Portland ME director Derek Kimball’s haunting coming-of-age film Neptune. Awards are chosen by a panel of judges headed by widely-respected Boston film critic Peter Keough. MassIFF invites festival goers to an After Party & Awards Ceremony on closing night at Tasty Burger (40 JKF Street, Cambridge MA) on Sunday, Aug. 29, at 8 p.m. with free food and entertainment.

MassIFF gathers the creative forces that exist outside of mainstream film providing the venue to screen their work and promote interaction with a broad audience. The three-day festival hosts a diverse array of feature length, short, and documentary films, as well as a table read of screenplay finalists performed by recognized New England actors. Interaction between filmgoers and film creators is strongly encouraged, and a filmmaker Meet & Greet event fosters networking in a supportive environment.

Tickets are on sale online and will be available at the door each night of the festival. Tickets can be purchased by film block or as full festival pass for all screenings. Synopses of films and the screening schedule can be found at: http://MassIFF2016.eventbrite.com
